Jason Quigno is an Anishinaabek artist from the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe. He spent his early childhood growing up on the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community reservation, swimming in Lake Superior, picking blackberries, and playing in the woods. Jason is a tribal citizen of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe and a lifelong resident of Michigan. The subject matter of his work comes from his Anishinaabek culture and teachings.

In his talk, “Contemporary Anishinaabek Art,” Jason will discuss creating a stone sculpture from start to finish, using photos to showcase his process. By breaking down his practice, he will highlight how his art connects to his heritage and the world of contemporary Anishinaabek art.
